Don't worry, high school’s awesome! It's alright to be nervous, I remember that I was pretty freaked out about my first day too. I'll be a Senior this year, so I'll give ya some of the basics.
- Get a map of the school to help you find your classes, it helps prevent you from getting lost.
- Be careful about older students, such as Juniors and Seniors, because some like to joke around with the new Freshman. If you need to ask a question it might be better to go to a teacher.
- Don't stop in the middle of the hallways, because the hallways are like a traffic jam on the high way. People accidentally bump into each other ALL THE TIME. And don't run. That’s an obvious rule, but seriously. Don't run. That's just dangerous. x3
- Wear something comfortable for you. If you have to wear a uniform, like I do, follow the basic guidelines for the uniform, but still be comfortable. At my school you're supposed to tuck in your shirt, but most students, including me, don't. If you're going to public school, just wear something that'll make you comfortable and fits your personality. But no flip flops. Those things are deadly.
- I use a pocket binder to help keep track of all my papers and worksheets from classes. I LOVE that thing. It really helps keep you organized.
- Get plenty of sleep. It sucks to be tired in class.
- Keep your cell phone in your locker. There’s a lot of crap that goes along with that rule, so seriously. Keep it in the locker. x3
- If you're buying lunch, make sure you have plenty of money. In some schools, food can be pretty pricy. Just to play safe, don't go overboard on the food. You can probably go back for more if you need it.
- Stay on board with your school work. Always check to make sure whether or not you have a homework assignment, or an upcoming test or quiz. It REALLY sucks to fall behind in your work or grades, because it might take you awhile to catch up.
- Don't be afraid to see your teacher if you need help with something. That's what they're there for, and they're always willing to help! :)
- Plenty of pens, pencils, and notebooks are a MUST.
- Unless your teacher tells you not to, always bring your textbooks to class.
- Don't worry about having glue, scissors, crayons, etc. You don't do arts and crafts in high school. If you're taking an art class, the art teacher should provide all the supplies you need.
- I love having a locker! Your locker is your own private spot away from home. Go crazy with it! Put up pictures, notes, anything. Just don't damage the locker, or you'll have to pay the school a fine. And use magnets, NOT TAPE.
- Join stuff! High school offers so many activities, it’s a great way to make friends and get involved. It also looks good on college applications.
- Most of all, just relax. Your fellow students are in the same situation and a lot of them are probably nervous as well. Just chill out, be yourself, and HAVE FUN! :)

i moved back and might as well have been a new girl.
it was rough at first, but here's what to do if there's no one you know if your class:
go sit near people, but not directly next to them to avoid having them ask you to move so that their friend can sit there. dont sit all alone. continue to sit near the same people, maybe talk to them now and then. you'll make friends!
dont worry about things beyond your control. everything will be perfect! high school is so much fun, you grow up a lot and make and lose a lot of friends...c'est la vie. there is a lot less "drama" than middle school, too, at least at my school.
think of all the people you dont know as friends.....that you havent met yet. :]
good luck! high school is what you make of it. try to be involved this year. go to the football games, dances, etc. you'll be glad you did.

Source(s): i had like 2 friends the beginning of freshman year and was terrified. now i have 10 or so close friends and dozens of just friends/acquaintances.
