I filed my taxes for 2007 already. I just recently found out i am eligible for the hope credit so i wanted to ammend my taxes. How do i do that. What form do i use. Is it easy or should i go to a tax place? I do my own taxes so if its pretty basic i think i can do it myself. I just need someone to point me in the right direction.

I did the same thing a few months ago and I received an additional $1300. All I did was get a 1040X form and I followed the directions, I also would try using a program like TurboTax if you are unsure of the calculations. You can’t file online but you can complete it online and print it. It took about 4 weeks for me to receive the money.

You’ll use a form 1040X for the amendment – you can download that at irs.gov . Fill out the form for the Hope Credit and send it with the 1040X. It isn’t real complicated – if you do your own taxes you should be able to do the amendment.
Good luck
