Tax Q&A

Hello all,
I am currently an independent consultant for a company based in Massachusetts. However, I do ALL of the work remotely in California. The employer did withhold anything. Do I still have to pay MA state income tax, or do I only pay California state taxes?
Thanks in advance!

  1. StephenW Says:

Federal and California, only. You pay taxes to place where YOU work or live. It does not matter where your client is located.

  2. Bostonian In MO Says:

Federal and CA only. MA has no claim on your income as you neither live nor worked there.
