Well, let’s see…I had to go and get my bill, as I don’t remember what they all are, just that there’s a lot of them. Here’s the list:
    Federal USF Charge
    Wisconsin Sales Tax
    Wisconsin County Tax
    Int’l Roam Taxes
    Regulatory Cost Recovery Fee
And that’s just from the cell bill. Our city just instituted a new charge on our water bill. It’s called Public Fire Protection, and added an extra $28 to our water bill. I couldn’t believe it when I heard that one. I live two blocks away from the fire department, and the fire hydrant is about 20 yards from my house. And we’ve got a volunteer fire department. So much for no ones taxes going up. I can’t imagine what this increase will do for the elderly, who don’t get those kinds of increases on their monthly Social Security check. We have a lot of elderly here, as well as a lot of people barely making it…and some aren’t. We’ve been looking for a way to disconnect our house phone & just go cellular, but Verizon told us that it would cost $30 just to have the computer plugged into the wall, plus the cost of the internet hookup…which leaves me paying just as much as I am right now for a house phone & internet. They sure know how to keep a short leash on you. But, that’s what living in the boonies gets you. And the taxes keep rolling onward. < *)))><

several, they add about 18% to the cost for me
the state, any state must learn to stop spending, not raise taxes.
Just as in our personal lives, we can’t go demand more money from the boss, the gov shouldn’t expect to demand more from its governed. The government must learn to live on what they take in and if it means they budget ‘backwards’, then go to it.
What you took in last year is what you can expect to take in this year and that’s all you can spend this year. Yes, that means less Social Engineering that has no end in sight and more (hopefully) infrastructure repair. The US is in need of infastructure repair, not ‘pie in the sky’ try it out experiments. Give some research grants for small wind farms. etc. but don’t change the entire system at once.

You just gave me an nether good reason not to have a Cell Phone.

    I live in NY too
any one thinking that our federal government is on the right track needs to look at NY because, as you know…this ain’t it.
