Attributing an Idea or an Argument

Sometimes you may wish to refer to or use an argument or an idea which is not your own, but which you have borrowed from a secondary work. If you do not wish to quote the source text, it is very important that you should indicate where the borrowed material comes from. You may wish to indicate in the text of your essay that you are using such material
(e.g. “Robin Wood suggests in his book on Howard Hawks…”).
