Expanding the view after looking closely I've come to the fact that one of the biggest advantage of learning English language in an English speaking country is the availability of enviroment possessing all the pre-requisites required to get a command on the language. Moreover, a student has the bonus of getting first-hand information and practice while interacting with the teachers and the native speakers as well. He is also aware of correct accent and pronounciation from the beginning. After all, he is able to get along with the barrier resisiting him to be familiar with the alien language more quickly.

Another important fact which goes strongly in favor of it is the developement of innate propensity towards speaking it, providing comparatively more competitive sorrounding for students.



MICHAEL ULLMAN: "You know, if my life were on the line, and I had to learn a language, what would I do? I'm not sure. One possibility would be that, to start with explicit and then go to immersion, right? Start with classroom and then go to immersion. But there is this possibility that classroom could hurt later immersion. That's what, you know, one possibility of interpreting our data."

The twenty-one adults in the experiment learned Brocanto2, a thirteen-word language created for the study. The words and grammar rules relate to a computer game similar to chess that the learners played. For example, "Blom neimo lu neep li praz" means "The square blom-piece switches with the neep-piece."

The researchers tested the people three to six months after they had learned the language, to see how well they could remember it. The study found that those who had learned it with the immersion method had brain waves similar to those of native speakers of a language when speaking that language.

"Studying the English language in an English-speaking country is the best but not only way to learn the language. Do you agree with this statement. Write 250 words".

"English has become a global language. While it's importance now cannot be subsided, it is essential to learn and get a hold of this language in due time. There are two types of schools of thoughts portraying different opinions regarding studying it.



MICHAEL ULLMAN: "You know I would not make any curriculum changes based on this. Nevertheless, it is suggestive, and I think it warrants further research to see whether in fact what kind of training might in fact be best not just for reaching the native brain bases but also for, you know, maximum proficiency in different aspects of language, like grammar, you know, syntax and lexicon. So I think further research is warranted. And it may be, for example, that a combination of classroom and immersion might be best. But we don't know that."

In a study published January 21 in Science, researchers asked 200 college students to spend five minutes reading a short passage about a scientific subject. Afterwards, they were either told to re-read it several times, as if cramming for a test; make “concept maps” of the material; or spend 10 minutes writing a free-form essay about the passage.

One week later, the students were given short-answer tests on what they remembered, and asked to draw logical conclusions from those facts. Students who originally wrote essays performed best. Next came the crammers, then the concept mappers.

Students were then asked to draw concept maps from memory, and the essay-writers again did best, beating those students who made concept maps the first time around.

The findings are necessarily limited, but do suggest that retrieval practice, as the essay-writing was called, is a powerful learning tool. It may also be undervalued in progressive curricula that emphasize so-called elaborative methods, such as concept mapping.

However, concept mapping and cramming did prove useful in at least one way.



We will hear whether being surrounded by a foreign language, or immersed in it, is the best way to learn a language. Or are traditional lectures with grammar rules and vocabulary lists the best way to learn to speak like a native speaker.

What is the best way to learn a new language? A small study of foreign language learning in adults compared two methods. One is known as the explicit or classroom method. This is the kind of traditional classroom teaching where students are taught a lot of information about grammar rules.

The other method is known as the implicit or immersion method. The idea here is to learn much the way children do when they learn a native language. That is, by being with native speakers and absorbing the language that surrounds them, generally without a lot of explanation. Teachers may combine these two methods into what Professor Michael Ullman calls immersion-style classroom teaching.

In a word, definitely learning a language in the country of it's origination is more beneficial than being familiarized with it otherwise."

6. Is "conclusion" too short?
7. Finally ..... how much band can I score out of 9 optimistically?

Like many educational reform efforts, the introduction of technology in schools has been less than successful. Over the last century there were several waves of massive investment in technology to improve education, but none has had significant lasting impact on education or different models of teaching and learning. The short story “The fun they had” from Isaac Asimov focuses on two opposite models of teachers and ways of teaching. He wrote about future teaching using technology devices, where children learn individually at home and compare that with learning through a real teacher in a class and how it affects student’s life.



Considering the quote written above, technology is always moving on and you can use it as a tool to achieve all sort of personalized instructions and information that could help students to learn in a better way. But using technology to individualize student learning is not at all a new idea, it goes back at least 100 years. In the fun they had we notice by Tommy that there are two different kind of schools, the old and the new one when he says “This is the old kind of school that they had hundreds and hundreds of years ago” as an answer to Margie to explain why anyone write about school on their reality.
